Fantasia was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Fantasia and Free Yourself together. Lead single “Ain’t Gonna Beg” and “Free Yourself” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. When you buy a Fantasia album, you know exactly what you’re getting! I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Fantasia ever.
You Were Always On My Mind is the funkiest number on the album.
After about the third Free Yourself listen through, I began to believe this song is Fantasia’s essence. As always, Fantasia’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Selfish (I Want U 2 Myself) one of the best in my collection. Summertime is the albums biggest surprise. Baby Mama is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Free Yourself. Got Me Waiting - A nice song. This song is dynamic and dramatic. After you’ve listened to Good Lovin’, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. A great put together song. This Is Me as a highlight of Free Yourself contains a ton of excellent melodies. Fantasia sings I Believe in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved.
