Grandaddy was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Grandaddy and Under The Western Freeway together. Under The Western Freeway carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Grandaddy on ‘Nonphenomenal Lineage’. I Love Under The Western Freeway from start to finish!
Laughing Stock is a perfect sing-along.
A.M. 180 is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Grandaddy ever produced. Album opener Collective Dreamwish Of Upper Class Elegance is a bright, upbeat ditty. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Under The Western Freeway is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Lyrics of Everything Beautiful Is Far Away are precise and evocative. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Go Progress Chrome - This one is lively and fun. Why Took Your Advice defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Some call Lawn and So On from Under The Western Freeway as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen.
