Angelique-O I just LOVE this mix!
midnight special - To me, this is the best song on the The Greatest Hits Of Harry Belafonte. day-O ( banana boat song ) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Mr Bojangles which is my favorite is a truly Harry Belafonte sounding song. A unique and uplifting song. The sound in Island in the sun is really warm and Harry Belafonte’s signature voice is still very much present. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The song Venezuela ending is my favorite… so catchy! Still going through The Greatest Hits Of Harry Belafonte and coming to appreciate Matilda more and more with every listen. This song is dynamic and dramatic. When the saints go marching in - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. After you’ve listened to Scarlet Ribbons ( for her hair ), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Voice and instruments in Mary’s boy child complement each other. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Man smart ( woman smarter ). Hava nageela is a marvelous song and it grows on you. Voice of Harry Belafonte in Scarborough fair ( canticle ) is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Jamaica farewell is nothing but pure genius. Land of the sea and sun - I like this one. If I were a carpenter has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Unchained melody rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. In My god is a rock Harry Belafonte spins a tale you want to hear to the end.
