Self-described as Pop with lots of words, Ike and Tina Turner comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. There is no doubt that Ike and Tina Turner has talent. Jim Jones has compared writing for Ike and Tina Turner’s new album to that on ‘Greatest Hits’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I wish that “Greatest Hits” album was instrumental.
So much energy, so exciting a sound.
A Fool In Love is just simply stunning. Ike and Tina Turner has astounded me with this amazing track. Put Acid Queen into car stereo for your highway driving After about the third Ain’t Nobogy’s Business listen through, I began to believe this song is Ike and Tina Turner’s essence. Ain’t That A Shame is probably one of Ike and Tina Turner’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Baby Get It On (Version 2) is almost impossible to review. Beauty Is Just Skin Deep is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Come Together is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Music in Cussing, Crying and Carrying On is amazing as in all tracks of Greatest Hits. De Funk is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. All of songs on Greatest Hits and have something to say letting alone Doin’ The Tina Turner. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Ike and Tina Turner sings Drift Away in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Driftin’ - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Everyday People (The Ikettes) sets the tone for the entire album. Feel It - Knock On Wood is possibly the best song Ike and Tina Turner has come up. Funkier Than A Mosquita’s Tweeter - A catchy, upbeat tune. Music of Funky Ball is gentle, never overbearing. Some of the arrangements found on Greatest Hits are surprisingly edgy. Grumbling is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. Hi Heel Sneakers is a marvelous song and it grows on you. Honky Tonk Women is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. I Got My Mojo Working is the albums biggest surprise. I now have I Idolize You as one of my personal favorites. I Know is nothing but pure genius. This is one hell of a track. I loved I Smell Trouble (Live) the first time I heard it. Opening track I Want To Take You Higher shows the best of Ike and Tina Turner. Ike’s Tune marked the continuation of Ike and Tina Turner in style evolution. I’m Fed Up is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Ike and Tina Turner offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Ike and Tina Turner allows each song to breathe and flourish. It’s Gonna Work Out Fine (Version 2) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Greatest Hits have ended. It’s My Own Fault is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Such hits like I’ve Been Loving You Too Long will leave you hooked. Nice and different song. Knock On Wood is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Lean On Me - I just love it. I’ve found myself listening to Livin’ For The City back to back and back many times. As always, Ike and Tina Turner’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. In Make Em Wait the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Money is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Movin’ On is the song that really did it for me. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Nothing You Can Buy is a medium tempo tune. Nutbush City Limits has a fun tempo. Ode To Billie Joe is marvelous and different song. Oh My My (Can You Boogie) is pretty funky and mellow. Voice and instruments in Only Woman Bleed complement each other. Ooh Poo Pah Doo (Live) still maintains something of a specific flourish. Philadelphia Freedom is a striking and quite long song. Piece Of My Heart (The Ikettes) hits the heart. Listening to Poor Fool you can hear that Ike and Tina Turner has still amazing chemistry with band members. Proud Mary (encore) I just LOVE this mix! Proud Mary (Version 2) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. One listen to the sheer beauty of Respect was all I needed. Some call River Deep, Mountain High from Greatest Hits as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Music and lyrics of River Deep, Mountain High (Version 2) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Simple and heartfelt closing track Rock Me Baby closes Greatest Hits on a high note. Sexy Ida (part 1) great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.First time I heard Sexy Ida (part 2) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.This track is full of harmonies and gets Greatest Hits off to a relaxing start. It’s such an underrated song. Shake is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. She Belongs To Me is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Still going through Greatest Hits and coming to appreciate Sit and Hold Your Hand more and more with every listen. Although Sliding is very melodic it is far from sad. So Blue Over You is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Something is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Stagger Lee is a song to enjoy for years to come. The sound in Stand By Me is really warm and Ike and Tina Turner’s signature voice is still very much present. In Sweet Rhode Island Red Ike and Tina Turner spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Sweet Soul Music (2:06) a good melody. That’s The City is another strong production from Ike and Tina Turner. The Loco - Motion was the first single release from the album Greatest Hits. If you are a Ike and Tina Turner fan, you will love Tra La La La La. Tuff Looked Up - This one is lively and fun. Tweedlee Dee is a very catchy tune. Twist and Shout is outstanding work of Ike and Tina Turner. Ike and Tina Turner sings his heart out in Up In Heah. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. What You See is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. White On White - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This song may be the most meaningful. Workin’ Together is a great opener for Greatest Hits. Ya Ya is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. I find myself hearing bits of You Got What You Wanted here and there throughout my waking hours. After you’ve listened to You Paid Me Back, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. You Should’a Treated Me Right - arguably the best track on Greatest Hits album. This track is clearly meant to showcase Ike and Tina Turner’s vocal abilities.
