Thom Yorke has compared writing for Vangelis’s new album to that on ‘Alexander’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Vangelis was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Vangelis and Alexander together. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Vangelis has. This album is in perfect progression from Vangelis!
Gardens of Delight is a song to enjoy for years to come.
Bagoas’ Dance is the albums biggest surprise. Chant presents the astounding mix of instruments on Alexander. Dream of Babylon is a very catchy tune. When I listen to Eastern Path in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Eternal Alexander is a good listen every once in a while. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Introduction is a bit different from Vangelis stereotypical stuff. One Morning at Pella have really caught my ear and imagination. Preparation marked the continuation of Vangelis in style evolution. Roxane’s Dance as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Excellent vocals and musical performances. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. If you are a Vangelis fan, you will love The Charge. The Drums of Gaugamela is nothing but pure genius. Strong, powerful vocals of Vangelis in Titans are very impressive. I believe Young Alexander is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written.
